After leaving our tented camp one morning we drove into a
kopje complex and straight into the middle of a lion pride. We
stopped by a house-sized boulder, leaned out of our popped
roof and slowly turned 360, spotting lions all around us. We
counted 11 males and females. All were lounging, sleeping or
dozing, oblivious to our vehicle and us, looking like giant ver-
sions of our house cats. Right outside our truck lay a lioness. A cheetah on the hunt in the Serengeti
plains; a lady lion looks us over in the
“kopje” region of the Serengeti.
